The MSC rules as published, plus the two things that trip people up at Pier 16: drinks, and asking for help before you get here. Open what you need.

Porters at Pier 16 cannot take your drinks.
No wine, water, soda, juice — no beverage of any kind goes in a checked bag or on a porter's cart. Security hand-inspects every beverage to confirm it has not been tampered with, so you carry it to the screening table yourself. If a porter ever took your drinks at Pier 16 before, that was a mistake, and it should not happen again.

Guns, ammunition and illegal drugs end the trip.
Port security searches bags and people. If a weapon, explosive or drugs turn up, law enforcement is called and boarding is denied — for the whole party, no refund. Marijuana counts, including medical marijuana and THC products, even if it is legal where you live.
Bought a souvenir blade ashore? Have the shop ship it home, or declare it to security when you re-board. It is kept safe and handed back after disembarkation.

Tell MSC ahead of time and the team is ready for you when you arrive: a wheelchair at the curb, an accessible cabin, an easier door. The form also covers priority on embarkation and disembarkation, so it works for leaving the ship too. MSC asks for it at booking, or at least 30 days before sailing.
Both links go to MSC Cruises USA. Dockside does not see what you send them.
Tell the Pier 16 terminal team too. A one-tap notice to the guest services team on the day — "coming in with a wheelchair, arriving around 11" — so they can meet you and point you to the easiest door, arriving or leaving. It switches on when that team is live.
